Why 'Listen'?
In collaboration with Verynice came to me to help the American Heart Association wanted to show how they practice building transparency. By listening to one another effectively and with empathy. In other words: “Everything begins with listening. Exponential listening happens when the practice of listening challenges our assumptions to the point of creating significant change in the way we work; and the way we think. Exponential Listening is a toolkit based on an award-winning framework, and follows a simple four-step process: Question, Listen, Reflect, and Learn.”
The Process
Connect
Verynice sent me an email requesting collaboration on project. Schedules and deadlines are assorted by Verynice and the American Heart Association.
Adapt
A structural body and first drafts were created in order to generate a design direction, approved by both parties. Final direction included using icons to represent different sections within the book.
Deliver
After a few sessions of feedback and direction, the final product was made. This final e-book can be found on Reginald, part of the “Creative Problem Solving Toolkits”.
The Details
For this project, I implemented a symbolic code for each section featured in this workbook. Since it was targeted to be used during an AHA sponsored training course with a group, it was important for students to keep track or go back to a section with ease.
The Challenge was find a solution on pages with a dedicated tip or “footer” that was easy to read and define from the rest of the content.
